Downtown Washington, Inc. utilizes the National Main Street Center Four-Point Approach® to commercial district revitalization, a community-driven effort to implement revitalization and economic opportunity in downtown Washington. Downtown Washington, Inc. is the 2012 Great American Main Street Award® winning community. The National Trust Main Street Center presents this award to only 3-5 communities across the nation every year.

Downtown Washington, Inc. hosts over 20 events every year, drawing thousands of people each year to our thriving and vibrant downtown. Our volunteers donate thousands of service hours each year to help ensure that downtown remains the heart of our community.

Job Summary: The Business Manager works with and provides support to day to day operations reporting to Executive Director. This includes, but is not limited to, general office management duties, bookkeeping, office organization and tidiness, interaction with Board of Directors, working with volunteers, vendors, City of Washington, Missouri Main Street and other organizations. This person will also perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors.

Job Scope: The Business Manager is responsible for supports Downtown Washington operations by maintaining office systems and supervising staff. Manage and work with staff to ensure the goals of Downtown Washington are achieved.

 Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures; correspondence; filing systems; reviewing supply requisitions; assigning and monitoring clerical functions; organizing office and cleaning service.

 Provides historical reference by defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.

 Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement.

 Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing information; identifying trends.

 Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

 Achieves financial objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Assisting with preparation of annual budget and quarterly reporting.

 Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 Developing, submitting and follow up of Grants

 Gathering and submitting Missouri Main Street Quarterly statistics

 Preparing and attending Board meetings

 Manage office and community service volunteers

 Other duties as request by Executive Director or Board of Directors

Minimum Qualifications:

1. BS/BA degree in business admin., non-profit management or other related degree OR three to four years of office experience.

2. Experience and sound bookkeeping practices

3. Proficient with Microsoft applications utilizing Word, Excel and presentation applications.

4. Proficient with QuickBooks.

5. Willing to learn and master Maestro Community Manager online software.
