Job Title: Graphics Specialist
Job Summary:
The Graphics Specialist plays a key role in shaping the visual identity of Downtown Washington, Inc. This position is responsible for creating, managing, and organizing all graphic materials for the organization while also assisting with promotional efforts and events. The ideal candidate will be proficient in graphic design and capable of producing high-quality digital and print content to enhance brand visibility and engagement. Additionally, this role will support marketing initiatives, maintain digital platforms, and contribute to event-related creative needs. Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director as needed.
Job Scope:
Develop, design, and manage all graphic content for Downtown Washington, Inc., including but not limited to event promotions, digital assets, signage, brochures, flyers, newsletters, and social media content.
Ensure all graphic materials align with brand identity and maintain a consistent and professional appearance across all platforms.
Oversee and update the organization’s website (built with Squarespace), ensuring it is visually appealing, user-friendly, and up to date.
Create and distribute newsletters via email and print, ensuring engaging and visually appealing layouts.
Manage social media graphics, posts, and campaigns to effectively promote events, programs, and initiatives.
Design and coordinate production of event-related materials, including tickets, banners, posters, and advertisements. (Eventbrite experience preferred but not required).
Assist with event branding, including designing merchandise, promotional materials, and digital assets.
Coordinate with print vendors to produce various materials such as business cards, letterheads, signage, and invitations.
Develop the creation, layout, and design of a yearly tourism magazine and multiple other publications.
Support marketing efforts by designing sponsorship materials and presentations.
Answer the phone lines and direct the caller to the correct staff person.
Work closely with the Event Coordinator and Executive Director to ensure cohesive visual communication for all organizational activities.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field preferred but not required. Equivalent experience in graphic design or marketing is acceptable.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Experience with Canva is a plus.
Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and branding.
Experience in website maintenance and design (Squarespace experience preferred but not required).
Experience in social media content creation, including knowledge of best practices for Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with email marketing platforms is a plus.
Photography and video editing skills are a plus.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer-based work.
Occasionally required to lift materials up to 30 or more lbs.
Frequent use of hands for repetitive tasks such as designing and typing.
Work Environment:
Standard 40-hour workweek with occasional extended hours for event support.
Some weekend and evening work may be required for event coverage.
Indoor office setting with occasional outdoor event responsibilities.
